Library Ramblings

from an elementary school librarian

About October 11, 2009

I’m a school librarian in a 2nd and 3rd grade only elementary school. There are a total of 27 classes and about 540 students at my school. I operate on a fixed schedule, in which I see every class once a week for a 45 minute period. In that time, I read a story/teach a lesson and check out books. I’m a young school librarian (how rare!) at 24, and this is my second year in the library. My goal is to get my students excited about books, which means my library is not a very quiet place!

Thanks for your blog about Axle Annie and the Speed Grump!
I enjoyed reading your other entries, too.
I love that your library is not a quiet place…..

    Hi there

I just love your blog site and website, I have been looking at it for days. I work in two elementary schools that are Primary to grade 6 in Nova Scotia, Canada. One school has 20 classes that I see within three days and the other school has 14 classes that I see within two days. So as you can see I am very busy with not much time to do anything else, but I would love to have some free time to make displays and create lesson plans. I would love to know how your Mom made those books for your Christmas Tree, hats off to your Mom she sounds fantastic!
